INDIA READY TO FIGHT PAKISTAN OVER KASHMIR
(Rec. 10.50) NEW DELHI, Oct. 2 Bandit Nehru, Premier of India, broadcasting on the eightieth anniversary of uandi’s Dirth, reiterated the Indian Government’s “determination to fight to the utmost Pakistan’s brutal and unforgivable aggression in Kashmir.” He said that tne people who called India the aggressor, spoke in ignorance.

Britain Sells Warships To Pakistan (N.Z.P.A.—REUTER CABLE) (Rec. 10.10). LONDON, October 3. Britain has sold the destroyers Onslow and Offa to Pakistan. The destroyers at present are at Devonport dockyard, where it is expected they will be refitted before formal transfer three months hence. The flag officer commanding the Pakistan Navy is Rear-Admiral J. W. Jefford. He supervised the transaction. The destroyer Onslow had distinguished service in a Russian convoy during the war.
Pakistan Making Plans For Defence LONDON, Oct. 2 The Pakistan Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, said his Government was giving the highest priority to defence expenditure and, if necessary, would provide the people with airraid shelters and guns even at the cost of bread and butter. “We have no aggressive intentions against any country, least of all against India,” he said, “but if we are attacked we win fight to the last Pakistani. “The fate of the Moslems of this sub-continent, as well as of the Middle East countries, depends on the freedom and independence ot Pakistan. n Liaquat Ali Khan added that Paki stan’s defence forces had heavy responsibilities which they should discharge with exemplary integrity ana efficiency. Twelve Pakistan policemen were killed ore injured, one Indian was killed, and three Indians were injured in a border clash between Indian and Pakistan police near the village of Thathi, 25 miles west of Armitsai, lndian police alleged that the Pakistan police had attempted to kidnap Indian women working on farms near the village.
