ROYAL TOUR INSURANCE RISKS
WELLINGTON, Sept. 23.
Insurance policies are available in Wellington against the risk of postponement of the Royal tour because of war, illness and members of the Royal Family or the diversion of the Vanguard to emergency duties. An insurance company officer said to-day that such policies would be allowed only to persons who invested considerable money, such as on materials for decorations and who would suffer heavily if the tour were cancelled or postponed. Nd opportunity would be given for gambling against the tour not taking place. The conditions of the policies are similar to those reported to be available in Sydney. SYDNEY, Sept. 23.
Insurance policies are being taken out in Sydney against the risk of postponement of the Royal tour. Underwriters say risks are being accepted on the possibility that the tour might have to be postponed because of war, illness of members of the Royal Family, or diversion of the Vanguard to emergency duties. “We will nol accept this type of insurance as a bet,” said the local agent of Lloyd’s. “It is legitimate only if the person or firm would suffer pecuniary loss in the as-yet-remote event that the tour would have to be cancelled.”
