Better Progress with Tow in Pacific

p A AUCKLAND, September 30. ’ 'With the freighter “Fernmoor” in tow the P. and O. Line motor ship “Palana” was making six knots in fine weather and smooth seas to-day, according to the daily wireless message to the “Herald” from the Master, Captain H. Spurr. The run in 24 hours up to noon was 134 miles. At 8 o’clock to-night, the ships were about 1,500 miles from Auckland, and about 1,200 miles due east from the Kermadoec Islands. The weather was overcast but fine, with a light south-south-west wind. _
