Nearly £300 at Gate

Although not the highest figure for the season, the gate takings at the Seddon Shield match in Westport on Saturday amounted to about £290. The Nelson-Buller match attracted the highest gate of the year. Many hundreds of West Coast supporters travelled by rail or road to Westport to watch the match, but there was a lack of any humourous incidents at the game. Port of Westport The Kakapo sails to-day for Portland and Auckland. The Kaimiro is due from Auckland tomorrow with general cargo and loads to return. The Wingatui is due from Wellington on Friday, and loads to return.
