Three ship deserters appeared before Messrs M. J. Fogarty and R>. J. Truman, J’s.P., in Greymouth Police Court yesterday. Pane John Baryluk 20, Canada, who deserted from the s.s. Ottawa Valley, on August 11, was sentenced to 21 days’ imprisonment. John Nicholson, '32, England, who deserted from the s.s. Vasconia on August 6, and Henry Tinney. - - 34, Ireland, from s.s. Chelmsford on June 24, were each sentenced to a month’s imprisonment.
