Lieqt.-Colonel G. Dittmer has been posted to the retired list, with the rank of Brigadier, according to a notice appearing in last night’s Gazette. —Press Assn.

Mrs J. Shinnick, accompanied by Miss Pamela Tacon leave by this evening’s rail-car for Christchurch, en route to Hastings, where they will in future reside.

Mr E. F. Evans, district Public Works engineer, formerly of Greymouth, is recovering from a serious illness at Nelson hospital.

The funeral took place yesterday at Nelson Creek Cemetery of Mrs Winifred Caroline Mayne. The Rev. K. G. Aubrey conducted the service at the Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, and the Rev. B. D. Jamieson, vicar m Ahaura the service at the graveside. Her Excellency, Lady Freyberg, accompanied by Miss Rosemary Eley and Captain Paul Freyberg, left Wellington yesterday to spend a few days at the Chateau Tongariro.—P.A. Mr Percy Cameron, who left last evening, on transfer to the Addington railway workshops, was farewelled by fellow employees of the Greymoutn section. The presentation of an electric toaster was made by Mr R. Myerscough who said that Mr Camerorf had been a valued member of the staff, and his fellow workers wished him every success in his, new position.
