Public Inquiry into Police Liquor Charge

P.A. WELLING'! ON, Sept. 17. A public inquiry will be held into the allegations of the licensee of the Caledonian Hotel, Napier, Mr. J. L. Bolger, that he made gifts of liquor to members of the police force at Napier between August 11, 1948, and April 15, 1948. Announcing this to-day, the Minister in charge of Police, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, said the inquiry would be conducted by Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., (Gisborne), and Superintendent J. A. Dempsey (Wellington).
