RUGBY FOOTBALL Trial Team Captains
WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. The New Zealand Rugby Union has decided to call the teams to play in the final All Black trial in Wellington on Saturday, Blacks. and Whites, instead of Possibles and Probables. •R. R. Elvidge and D. Herman will be captain and vice-captain respectively of the Blacks (formerly Possibles), and F. R. Allen and H. Frazer captain and vice-captain respectively of the Whites (formerly Probables).
WALKER OUT OF TRIAL Because of an injury, E. G. Walker, of Hokitika, is not available for the final All Black trial to-morrow. On September 4 Walker was injured when playing for Excelsiors against Stars at Greymouth, and the injury prevented Walker’s playing m the final South Island trial last Saturday, but he was then selected, conditional on his fitness, for the final New Zealand trial at Wellington tomorrow.
AH Blacks’ S.A. Itinerary
LONDON, Sept. 15. A revised itinerary for the All Blacks adopted by the tour committee of the South African Rugby Football Board on September 11 will be considered by the board on October 8. It indicates that the opening match will be at Durban on April 23, 1949, against Natal. The first test will be played at Capetown on June 4 the second at Johannesburg on July 9, the third at Port Elizabeth on July 25, and the fourth and final test at Durban on August 6. This will be the last match of the tour.
