Robbery with Violence Alleged
WELLINGTON, Sept. 16.
Charged with robbing Ivan Lane O’Reilly of money and a wallet of a total value of £l4, on December 24. 1947, and usuing personal violence at the time of the robbery. . Bertrand Alexander, aged 25, a painter, -appeared in the Magistrate’s Court todciY ’ Requesting that bail be substantial, Detective-Sergeant Knapp said the accused was already on a charge of manslaughter. The bail fixed for that charge was £5OO and a surety or sureties for the same amount. - The Magistrate, Mr J. S. Hanna, fixed bail at £lOO and a surety or sureties for the same amount. On the application of DetectiveSergeant Knapp, who said there was another offender in the case and I’.’.r’hcr inquiries had to be made, the Magistrate granted a remand until September 22.
