N.Z. Watersiders’ Warning for U.S.A.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 16

The New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union national secretary, Mr T. Hill, commenting on the United States Army decision to load cargoes for its Pacific areas during the maritime tie-up, said the union would act in the event of “scab” cargo coming to New Zealand, as it did in 1934 and 1936, and would carry out the decision of the New Zealand Federation of Labour Conference in 1946. That decision recommended that all New Zealand maritime affiliations should pledge their full support to the maritime workers of the United States.
