Wellington Schools to Re-open on Monday Next

WELLINGTON, Sept. 16 The schools in Wellington and the Hutt Valley district, which were kept closed after the recent school holidays, as a precautionary measure against the spread of poliomyelitis, are to reopen on Monday. This was announced by the Minister of Health, the Hon. Miss M. Howard, following a meeting of Cabinet this evening.

The Minister added that precautions were to be observed in the schools, but details of these would be announced later.

Woman Victim of Paralysis

WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. One case of poliomyelitis, a 22-year-old married woman, was reported in Wellington to-day. A two-year-old girl, who was- admitted to hospital yesterday, has been found to be not a positive case. No decision has yet been announced whether Wellington schools will re-open next week.
