A L.P. MEMBERS’ STAND AGAINST COMMUNISTS

MELBOURNE, Sept. 13. Over 9 500 members of the Australian Labour Party, sections of three unions, stood and cheered as a mark of their determination to resist Communist victimisation of workers and control of unions. ' The 'members, who represented the Federated Clerks, the Australian Railwaymen’s Federation, and the Building Workers, unanimously decided that to safeguard control of the unions it was essential: (1). Io pievent the victimisation of unionists in their fight for democracy in their unions; (2) to protect freedom of speech- (3) to obtain a right.and lair open trial for unionists charged with offences against then- union rules, (4) to secure the regulation of ballots to prevent improper practices that would enable a few to dominate the majority.
