Film Stars At Doping Inquiry

LOS ANGELES, Sept 4. Betty Grable and her husband band-leader Harry James, were among film personalities who attended a horse doping inquiry on Wednesday. They jointly own a racing stable. A horse trainer, Jack Engle, who works for the Robert S. Howard stable, was questioned about the drugging of two of Howard’s horses. He denied that he had ever given a horse a shot of benzedrine. Robert Brennan, former Howard stable groom, was present at the inquiry. Brennan was jailed recently after he had allegedly confessed to doping two horses. Film comedian Harry Ritz also attended the inquiry.
