REPORTED RUSSIAN INVASION OF SOUTH-WEST CHINA

NANKING, Sept. 5 Soviet troops numbering one full brigade have invaded Sinkiang province, in what is believed to be another strategic move to gain control over China’s remote north-west frontier regions. Reports emanating from a news agency without official confirmation said a fully-equipped Red Army brigade, moving across the border from Siberia, has reached the Tacheng, Ining and Akosu, special districts which are under the jurisdiction of Ahanadjan’s rebel regime hostile towards the Chinese central authorities. Official quarters in Nanking disdisclaimed knowledge of the alleged incursion of Soviet troops into Sinkiang. A Foreign Office .spokesman emphasised his scepticism oy saying tha reports should be taken with two grains of salt
