New Plymouth Theft Charges Against Ex-Borough Cashier

P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 6. The theft of £1,576 13s 5d from the New Plymouth Borough Council, in various sums by Ralph Eric Pickering, former Borough Cashier, in (he Supreme Court at New Plymouth today. He pleaded not guilty also to the receipt of money knowing it to have been stolen, and to 18 counts involving the falsification of Borough Accounts. There have been, two indictments against Pickering at this session of the Court, and to-day’s trial was the second hearing. It is expected to conslude to-morrow.
