CAUGHT IN THE ACT AUCKLAND, Sept. 6. Charged with creaking and entering the dwelling of *John Victor Macky in Mountain road, with intent to commit a crime, Daisy Rangimoa Mildred Davs, aged 22, a domestic, appeared before the Magistrate (Mr Luxford) in the Police Court to-day. The accused was remanded until Monday. The police arrested the young woman in a bedroom after the door lock jammed.

£2 WEEK WAGE RISE SOUGHT AUCKLAND, September 6. The Auckland branch of the Carpenters’ Union has endorsed a remit for the national conference in December favouring a wage increase of £2 a ■ week through ' an application bv the Federation of Labour. PARITY FOR AUSTRALIAN * POUND? AUCKLAND, Sept. 6. “Undoubtedly the currencies of our countries shou.ld be on parity”, said Sir Keith Murdoch, Australian newspaper proprietor. Parity had to come, but Australia was determined to hold out as long as possible with' the present exchange rate of the Australian pound till the British pound fell further in relation to the dollar, as he thought it would.
