VOLCANO ERUPTING FOR FOUR DAYS IN PHILIPPINE ISLE

(Rec. 10.10). MANILA, Sept. 5 Reports reaching Manila Bay state that at least fifteen were killed in a four-day-old volcanic eruption of Mt. Hibok on Caminguin Island. The United Press says that every available vessel is being rushed to the island to try to evacuate its 52,000 inhabitants. About 25,000 of the people are said to have reached neighbouring islands, where they are suffering from a food shortage. Thousands are sleeping in the open on Caminguin Island’s seashore, awaiting ships. Mt. Hibok had been dormant ror 77 years. It started erupting on Wednesday. Caminguin' Island is 12 miles long and eight miles wide.
