When a newspaper reporter telephoned Mr J. A. McLaughlan, a farmer of West Eyreton, near Cust. that he had. won first prize of £lO,OOO in an overseas lottery, he would not believe his good luck. Ho was finally convinced, went to bed, and had the best sleep he had ever had in his life. Mr McLaughlan said he had been farming for 25 years, and he now thought he would take a trip to England. He intends to keep his farm going. It is a property of 200 acres. Mr McLaughlan, who is married, with an adult family of three, served for two vears in World War One as a machine-gunner. . He stated that he had been buying tickets all his life, and that in the last lootery he was only two numbers off £5.
