Greymouth Jockey Club’s Profit A profit of £782 was made by the Greymouth Jockey Club, according to the financial statement submitted to the annual meeting on Wednesday evening. The previous year showed a loss of £7B. The profit and loss account for the year showed total receipts at £17,568 4s 4d, including £15,049 11s 9d from nominations and acceptances, totalisator revenue and members’ subscriptions; £1,813 12s from gates, race cards, refreshment stall and booth; £538 7s 6d from livestock. The expenditure included £8,079 13s 4d in Government taxes, £6,102 Is in stakes, £757 14s 9d in salaries and wages, and £612 16s 6d in repairs and maintenance. The credit balance on the year’s working was shown at £782 3s 2d. The President (Mr. J. W. Hannan) said the total receipts of the Club during the year had been about £17,000. Of that £13,600 went in stakes and taxation, leaving £3,400 for the operations of the Club. He added that the question of lengthening the course, could not be proceeded with because of lack of finance. Unless substantial help was received, perhaps by remission of taxation, the Club would not be able to do much along these lines. ■Mr. Hannan was re-elected President unopposed. An election by ballot resulted in the ■following 12 committeemen being appointed:—Messrs C. L. Kettle, H. C. Moore, J. P. Low, C. G. McKechnie, L. S. Robertson, F. Costello, T. E. Coates, F. Freitas, A. J. Wilson, G. Blair, D. R. Dowell, G. R. Harker. Mr. F. Congreve was reelected auditor.
