HOCKEY N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP
P.A. DUNEDIN, September 2. The final of the “K” Cup, the New Zealand women’s hockey premiership, will be played at Logan Park tomorrow, between Canterbury “A” and Wellington. In the semi-final, played to-day, Canterbury beat 1 Otago by four goals to nil by better play in all departments of the game. In the semi-final of the minor section, Eastern qualified for the final by defeating South Otago “A” in one of the fastest and most interesting games of the tournament. Neither side had scored when time was called, Eastern scoring within five minutes after extra time had been allowed. Eastern will meet Canter-bury-Malvern in the final to-morrow. There w T as no score at half-time in the “K” Cup semi-final between Canterbury “A” and Otago. In the second spell, however, Canterbury showed definite superiority, scoring four goals and penetrating the Otago defence repeatedly. Canterbury was good in all phases of the game; its full-backs were safe, and the halves defended well and kept up with the forwards, who displayed more initiative and cohesion than the Otago forward line.
