COMMUNISTS PROCLAIM OWN GOVERNMENT FOR NORTH CHINA
‘To Overthrow Chiang Kai Shek (Rec 9.35) SAN FRANCISCO Sept 1 A broadcast which was picked up here from the Communist radio in North China, said that the Chinese Communists have proclaimed to-day a ‘North China People’s Government’ as a rival regime to that of Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, in China. The broadcast said that the aim of the new Government (yas the striking down of American imperialistic and Kuomintang rule in China. The radio announced that the new People’s Government was formed on August 18 last, after a 13-day session of the “North China Provisional People’s Representative Congress.” It did not say where that congress met but it stated that 27 members of a Government Council had been elected in areas of North China that have been seized by Communist armies.
