Mr R. Williams, Wellington, a former secretary of the Marist Rugby League Club arrives to-day to attend the Club’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. Mr W. McNeight is expected to arrive also.

The funeral of Mr W. Johnson took place yesterday afternoon, at Karoro cemetery. The services at Bellamy’s Chapel and at the graveside were conducted by Rev. K. G. Aubrey.

Mr. E .A. Lee, who was appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate on .July 27 and has been acting in Wellington during the absence of Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., has been transferred to Timaru.

The Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) announced yesterday that the New Zealand High Commissioner in London (Mr. W. J. Jordan), has been re-appointed for a further term. Mr. Jordan has been High Commissioner since September 1, 1936. He is 69 years old and came to New Zealand in 1904. He was elected to Parliament in 1922 for the Manukau electorate and was subsequently re-elncted at every election until 1935. He resigned from Parliament in 1 1936 on his appointment to London. ,
