Birchfield School Opened

The new school building at Birchfield was offieially opened on Saturday when the weather was fine and there was a large gathering present fi;om all parts of the district. In addition to the new school a new modern teacher’s residence was handed oyer to the head teacher at the Birchfield school. The .chairman of the Nelson Education Board, the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, dedicated the new school to the present and future children of Birchfield and hoped it would produce good citizens as that was the objecf of New Zealand’s education system. Mr Mclntyre granted the children a later holiday in honour of the oc j casion.
