Stonex (New Zealand), was second to Cortoni (Argentina) in the eleventh heat of the world amateur sprint cycling championship. The Italian cyclist. Ghella, beat the’Dane, Schandorff, in the final of the world's amateur IJOO metres scratch evc..t. Harris (Britain) who was the 1947 champion, was third.
