WAIKATO MINERS REMAIN ON STRIKE

Authorities Urge Recourse to Local Disputes Committee P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 30 No early settlement is expected of the strike which has held the MacDonald, Glen Afton, and Pukemiro coal mines at Huntly idle for more than three weeks. X spokesman of the Combined Strike Committee said that work would not be resumed to-morrow. It was reported in Huntly that further representations had been made on behalf of the men on strike. It was stated these were similar to earlier representations, and that the authorities in Wellington had replied that they saw no reason to deviate from their principle of having the dispute settled along constitutional lines. The machinery existing m the Waikato Local Disputes Committee should be used.
