CRICKET WASHBROOK’S INJURY.
(Received August 10. 11.10 p.m.X LONDON, August 10. England probably will have to meet Australia, in the fifth Test without Wlashbrook, a most reliable opener, says the Australian Associated Press. The base of Washbrook's right thumb was badly bruised when, he was lacing Lindwall and Miller at Old Trafford yesterday. A doctor advised him. to take no further part in the present match against the Australians, and to withdraw from the Lancashire team to play against Northamptonshire to-morrow. If Wpshbrook is unable to play in the Test, Ihe Cambridge left-hander, Dewes. may open with Hutton.
