Terrorists Continue Murders in Johore IN.Z.P.A.—Reuter Cable]. (Received August 9, 11.40 p.m.) SINGAPORE, August 9. Continuing the murder wave in Johore State, where a European rubber estate manager, Mr. H. M. Rice, was murdered yesterday, three Chinese terrorists early this morning seized a Chinese school teacher at Bukit Siput. and shot him dead. They pinned a notice to his body reading: •‘All Chinese who help the British will be killed I” SINGAPORE, August 8 One bandit was killed and several were wounded when bandit snipers clashed with military and police advancing from Gua Musang to-day. One Gurkha in the military party died in action. The bandits had tried unsuccessfully to ambush the military party. The wounded bandits were taken away by their companions. The military ‘found and burned down the . bandits’ food store. | The British Colonial Office an- ’ nounced in London that Mr William Nicol Gray has been appointed police commissioner for Malaya, succeeding Mr H. B. Langworthy,, who has resigned because of ill-health. Mr Gray was inspector-general of police in Palestine at the termination of the British mandate. He studied and •practised estate management and farming in Australia and Britain.
