WESTLAND LAND BOARD DECISIONS

i At its monthly meeting the Westland Land Board granted the following applications for land: — Area 3 roods (approx.), town ot Cobden, Patrick Minehan. Section 2, Block IV, Mawheranui S.D., 80 acres 0 roods 35 perches, Maurice Doolan (Atarau). Part Ferry Reserve 63, Block XIII, Gillespies S.D., 5 acres (approx.), Hugh Black (Karangarua). Crown Lands, Block IX, Waiwhero S.D., approx. 20 acres, Wm. John Dennehy. Applications adjourned were:— Crown Land, Arawata riverbed, W. D. Nolan and Sons, Okuru. Section 3282, town of Hokitika, George Joseph Agnew. Section 1, Town of Red Jacks, Gibson and Sons (Ngahere). Section 3738, Block XI, Hohonu S.D., 2 acres, Edward Lewis Morgan. The application of Gibson and Son i Ngahere) for part road reserve, Red .lacks Creek was withdrawn and that of John Joseph Coulson for 16 acres Crown land in Block IX, Arnold S.D. was refused. Timber Licenses The Board granted renewals of the following timber licenses: — J. O’Neill (Kokiri) over Section 2720, Block X, Mawheranui S.D. A. Johns, over 46 acres in Blocks II and VI, Ahaura S.D. John Reedy over 25 acres in Blk. XVI, Waimea S.D. J. Donaldson over 315 acres Part Section 3903, Block XI, Mawheranui S.D. A. Scholefield over Section 2649, Block 11, Mawheranui S.D. A. Muir over 133 acres, Block XIII, Waimea S.D. Licenses for cutting and removing timber were granted as follows: — G. J. Williams, over 10 acres, Blk. 11, Mawheranui S.D., and C. E. Reiha over Section 2744, Blk. 111, Hohonu S.D. The application of the Harihari Boxmak.ng Company for a renewal of their Timber License over 80 acres Section 3609 and 3616, Wanganui and One One Survey Districts was refused, and that of H. W. Pettengill (Kumara Junction) to cut and remove all millable timber off 33 acres of E.E.R. 129, Block VII, Waimea S.D. was adjourned. Transfers of Land The transfer of nine licenses and leases over 2565 acres 3 roods 20 perches in Blocks VI, VH, XI and X, Waiho S.D., from Louis Robert Gibb and Christian Henry Gibb to Archibald Lamberton and Patrick Wm. G. Millton, was adjourned. A license was granted W. H. Merewether for 60 acres of Crown land in Blocks XIV and XV, Waimea S.D., replacing that of Mrs L. Sohoy. The application of H. E. Jones to transfer 2 roods in Block 111, Waimea S.D. to Vera Maria Ward, was adjourned.

New Licenses New licenses were granted as follows: — Crown Lands, Block X, Waimea S.D., 4 acres, J. E. Jellie. Section 43, Block XXXVIII, town of Runanga, 1 rood 10.3 perches, L. R. Giles. Sections 24 and 25, town of Matainui, 2 roods 20 perches, A. R. Chant. One acre in Block XIII, Mawheraiti S.D., aerial tram over Grey River at Totara Flat, Hahn Sawmills Ltd. The Board reduced to 67 acres the area of Crown Land (approx. 169 acres) in Block V. Mawheranui S.D. held by Maurice Doolan (Atarau). Proposals for expenditure approved were: Westland County Council, halves £132 Ils 9d, thirds £4 11s; Grey County Council, thirds £4 13s 3d, halves £5l 0s sd; Ross Borough Council 4s. The Conservator of Forests applied for approval of proposals for expenditure of amounts due for the quarter ended June 30, and approval was given as follows: Grey County £442 3s 6d, Westland £328 19s lOd.
