Young Man's Thefts to Please Girl
AUCKLAND, August 5 A 19-year-old driver, who stole £382 in money and £B6 in cheques frcm Mr R. J. Mills, Mayor of Mount Eden, his employer, was sentenced to three years in Borstal by Mr Justice Finlay to-day. For the prisoner, Murray Broughton Lovell, his counsel said the trouble was a sentimental attachment to a girl. He stole the money to spend on an engagement ring and entertainments. The Judge said there was calculation and resolution about the crime, but he would give Lovell a chance to redeem himself.
