AIRFIELD SAFETY ASSISTANT: Firefighting (duties similar to firemen in civilian life)/"Traffic"control of aircraft at airfields. COOK: Duties similar to chef in civilian life. Training given in cooking, practical butchery, and serving of meals. SAFETY EQUIPMENT WORKER: Inspection, servicing, etc. of parachutes, and air-sea rescue apparatus. Initial engagements are up to eight years with the opportunity long-term engagement later.
