BASKETBALL ALL GRADES KEENER AS FORM IS REACHED

In the game; Technical O.G. B v. Convent O.G. A, M. George made some fine interceptions, saving-many a score for Technical. B. Stackhouse should watch play more closely and use her height to much greater advantage. A, Caldwell was shooting well in Convent O.G.’s forward line, ably supported by S. Cleghorn. K. Kennedy needs to speed up her play much more. Runanga had a big lead over Blaketown A, thanks to the excellent shooting of B. Garvey and the good field work of J. Caldana. Their superior passing gave Runanga a big advantage, Blaketown often giving away good openings ny poor passing. S. Robertson worked hard in the defence, intercepting frequently and passing out well to L. Bailey and M. Avery. Revington’s, for a new team, are improving fast. They still need to be careful over pushing and obstruction. The aim of basketball is to evade one’s opponent and get the ball for oneself, not forcibly to prevent one’s opponent gaining possession. N. Sweetman has been shooting very well. Lane Walker and Rudkin are improving but they need to come forward to meet their ball, instead of running back from it. This allowed the quick Taylorville defence to intercept . nearly every time the centres sent the ball into the forward third. Taylorville are working as a team and should continue to do well.

Rapahoe are still penalising themselves by stepping and contact. If they could cure these infringements they would have a very successful team. Against them, Technical O.G. C played well. A Wills was outstanding in defence and E. Arnott plaved an excellent forward game with B. Bellis and B. Muir. With practice, these three should prove hard to beat. Runanga C'-and Convent O.G. C played a very fast, keen game where everybody worked hard for the team. A close score of 7-8 was indicative of the good exhibition of basketball provided. TO-DAY’S TEAMS Tech. O.G. A team:—D. Clarke, N. McNabb, I. Stuart, V. Stirling, G. Reid, S. Airey, J. Harris, J. Blackie, J Dale. Tech. O.G. B team:—S. Stanton, J. Scott. M. Airey, N. Stirling, R. Innes, B. Stackhouse, V. Nelson, A. Birss. Tech. O.G C team:—B. Muir, N. Wildermoth, B. Stewart, J. Rea, M. Birss, A. Owen, A. Willis, M. Davey.
