CROWN LANDS DISPOSAL IN WESTLAND

At the usual meeting of the Westland Land Board at Hokitika this week, there were present Messrs H. M. Lawrey, Crown Lands Commissioner (chairman), B. Ward, E. A. Kirby, W. Clayton, and H. G. Carter. The following grants were made:— One acre 1 rood 20 perches in Ross, to Pethig and G. Elley; one acre, Block 7, Mawheranui to Kopara Milling Coy; Section 4, 30.9 perches, Waiho Gorge Extension, No. 1, to D. W. Graham. An application by W. Clayton for 37 acres 1 rood 38 perches, Sections 3958, 3855, and 3856, Block 1, Ahaura was adjourned. New licences were granted Mrs I Cowan over 18 Crown land, M.L. 1486, in estate of late G. T. Cowan. Approval was given proposals of the Grey and Westland County Councils for expenditure of amounts due to them last quarter, respectively, £547 and £306. Applications ifor timber licenses were granted as follows: —F. Martin, Arahura, over Section 3193, Block XIV, Waimea S.D., subject to special conditions; A. C. Hannah, over Section 2647, Block 111, Mawheranui. Renewals were granted to the following with special conditions:—C. Mills, license No. 1069 over 142 acres in Block VIII, Kanieri; W. Chamberlain, Kumara, license No. 1068 over 20 acres in Reserve 766, Block XVI, Waimea; T. Rochford, Jacob’s River, License No. 1006 over 20 acres, part Reserve 333, Block XI, Bruce Bay; J. E. Blackmore, License No. 1047 over part Reserve 1048, Block 111, Ahaura; M. R. Fahey, License No 1076 over 100 acres, Reserve 766, Block IV, Kanieri; J. E. Hibbs, License No. 998 over 36 acres, Block VII and XI, Waimea; D. J, Boraman, License No. 1962, 250 acres Block X, Waimea. An application was adjourned in which G. Hahn, Jnr., of Ahaura, sought a license to remove mining timber on a road reserve adjoining Section 2696, Block VIII, Mawheranui.
