SOVIET PATROL KIDNAPS HIGH U.S.A. OFFICIAL IN BERLIN
(Rec. 10.40). BERLIN, June 3. A Soviet patrol has kidnapped Dr. H. L. Franklin, of the United States, the Deputy Chief of the Civil Admin-, istration and Political Affairs B) anch of the Berlin Kommadatura. He was kidnapped as he emerged from a photographer’s shop centre m Berlin yesterday afternoon. An Associated Press corresnondent here says: High Soviet officials know Dr. Franklin well. Americans who were in the vicinity have renorted the incident, to the United States authorities. They have intervened for Dr. Franklin’s release. So far they have done so without success.
