Increase in Overseas Tourists

WELLINGTON, June 1. All sections of the tourist activities undertaken by the Government showed an improvement in the last financial year, one of the features being the considerable development of organised party travel, said the Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts, Hon. W. E. Parry, to-day.

The prospects for the winter sports season, he added, were bright. The Minister said he hoped it would soon be posible to make a definite announcement in regard_ to the reopening of Chateau T'ongariro. The Minister said that the department had in hand tentative arrangements for a visit to New Zealand in the latter part of the year of several organised tour parties from Australia and North America.
