Vessel with N.Z. Timber Ships Much Water on Tasman Trip

SYDNEY, May 31. The British freighter, Inchwells, reached Sydney late last night leaking badly ’and with her pumps working at top pressure. Up to 15 tons of water hourly had been entering the ship since Thursday when the heavy seas in the Tasman loosened plate rivets in her hull. Her engines were also damaged by the severe buffeting and at least one beating is bl Bound for Melbourne with 1000 tons, of New Zea*and timber, the Inchwells was driven north by ffiad weather in the Tasman and Bass Strait. She will probably remain at Sydney for repairs.'
