CRICKET Lancashire and Australians Draw

LONDON, May 28. Dismissing Lancashire for 182, the Australians just held a first innings lead in the first drawn game of the tour. Bowling honours ’ went to the Victorian left-arm bowler, W. Johnston, who took five for 27 today, after having none for 22 yesterday, and to Lindwall, both of whom showed their best form so far. They were instrumental in forcing Lancashire’s collapse on .a good wicket. Features of this innings were Bradman’s dismissal for the second time by the young left-hander, Hilton, and Harvey’s good innings. Hilton fought his duel with Bradman intelligently. He several times beat mm before he got his wicket. The heavy haze shrouded the Old Trafford ground during the afternoon but did not deflect Harvey from his determination to atone for his earlier failures. His 76 not out was a purposeful, chanceless innings, marked by sound defence and foreful hicting in front cl the wicket. Loxton, as in Australia’s first innings, batted vigorously. He was in excellent form and drove with assurance and power. AUSTRALIA First Innings Total 204 Second Innings Morris c G. Edrich b Pollard .. 5 Barnes c Roberts b Cranston .... 31 Bradman st E.
