THE TURF Owner of Indianapolis in a Quandary
CHRISTCHURCH, May 29. Unless Indianapolis, three times winner of the New Zealand Trotting Cup, is sold immediately by the present owner, he is likely to be deregistered by the New Zealand Trotting Association. This was decided by the board of the association last evening when the present owner, P. W. G. 'Davidson, who bought Indianapolis at auction recently for 800 guineas, sought the board’s permission for the horse’s registration to be transferred to him. Davidson, who was disqualified for life in 1921, said in a letter that he proposed to use the horse for stud duties in Tasmania. . After Davidson’s application had been read, the chairman (Mr W. M. Ollivier) remarked that a transfer could not be granted to a person who was disqualified. If that, was done the horse would be deregistered automatically. Mi' Ollivicr said that he would rot be in favour of a horse such as Indianapolis being deregistered Mr E. A. Lee then moved that Davidson be advised to sell the horse immediately so that, it would not be necessary to deregister 1 it, and his motion was carried. A fine of £5 imposed by the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association at its last meeting on an owner who shipped an unregistered mare overseas, was remitted by the board.
