Buller Rugby Union Committee Decisions
At the weekly meeting of the Buller Rugby Union’s Management Committee on Saturday evening, it was decided that no action be taken as to representation of the union at Council of Sport meetir-- pending advice from the New Zealand Union on the position with regard to affiliation. A meeting of the council is to be held on Wednesday. It was decided that the secretary supply to Mr J. Finlayson (North Auckland) information required regarding school football in the Buller district. Mr S Stewart was appointed custodian of the Union’s footballs and representative jerseys. All. clubs and referees are to be notified that the new scrummage rule is to be enforced as from next Saturda- the field goal to be counted as three points only. Mr W. Craddock was nominated for the position on the South Island section of N.Z.R.F.U. Council. Messrs H. Taylor and J. Morgan were appointed a reclassification committee. The Rwer Club is to be advised that its request to play . Star seniors on the Trotting Track next Sunday is not agreeable to the Star Club owing to Anzac Day fallin" on that date, and therefore the game will have to be played at Victoria Square as drawn up. The Referees’ Association and all clubs are to be notified that matches are to start on time, and that otherwise any offending team will forfeit the match. Ranger Club is to be advised that a bye cannot be granted their junior team until the end of the Junior Shield competition. Messrs J. McEnaney, R. Hansby, W. Craddock and A Lake were anointed a deputation to visit Denniston to-day to view the Pirates’ playing field. It was decided that the chairman of the Reserves Committee of the Borough Council be interviewed regarding the reerection of a fence around the playinc field at Victoria Sauare. Messrs J. McEnaney, W. Craddock and R. Hansby were appointed a finance committee. Messrs G. Mason and Craddock were appointed as a Referees’ Appointment Committee. It was decided that the clubs be circularised regarding the appointment of line umpires to officiate at matches in which their teams are takinc part. It was decided to forward to the St. John Ambulance Corps season_ complimentary tickets for their active members. Mokihinui Club’s application for the reclassification of A. Stollery from senior to junior grade was granted. It was decided that all clubs be asked to pay their subscriptions immediately and to forward a copy of their last season’s balance sheet. It was decided that the union N.Z.R.U. delegates be instructed to support Nelson . Union's suggestion that the combined trials that are held by the Seddon Shield Unions be abandoned this season. It was decided to ask West•port and Star Clubs to confer with the Old Boys’ Club regarding the nights and hours for training at Victoria Square, and to approach Westport Borough Council regarding improved lighting on Victoria Square. The president, secretary and Mr S. Stewart were appointed a committee to interview the counci?. The secretary and Mr B. Samuels were empowered to supnly schools with footballs. Mr V. Goodall was nominated as a South Island and New Zealand Rugby representative selector.
