Baller Coal Output
Last month’s coal output from all sources in Buller totalled 33,044 tons 11 cwt. and was made up as follows: Stockton State mine , 21,261 tons 4 cwt.; Westport Coal Company, 7848 tons 11 cwt.; sundry companies within the endowment area, 2201 tons 12 cwt.; sundry companies outside the area, 1733 tons 4 cwt. The output I for March, 1947. was 43,425 tons 10 cwt. For the first three months of the year production amounted to 112,096 tons 9 cwt. F’or the corresponding period in 1947 the figure was 117,921 tons 9 cwt. The amount of coal shipped from Westport during March was lower that for March, 1947, due to the shoaling on the bar. The amount was 11.341 tons 1 cwt. compared with 36 403 tons 10 cwt. during March, 1947. For the first three months of the year 78,103 tons 7 cwt. were shipped fro mthe port and for ‘the corresponding period last, year the total was 89,811 tons .18 cwt.
