REEFTON NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent]. REEFTON, April 16. The Waratah football team will be chosen from ' the following, to play against Junction at Reefton at 2.45 p.m. to-morrow: J. Hunt, B. Griffin, E. Hunt, M. Rosonaski, J. Pope, F. Hampson, S. Hearn, McDonald, N. Lawson, J. McLean, T. Duncan, W. Mann, E. Newcombe, S. Pimm, D. Stewart, B. Black, S. Lewis, B. Gilmor, F. Brosanhan. Any player unable to play please notify the secretary, T. C. Dellaca, phone 143, by Saturday. Owing to the visit of Hon. C. F. Skinner to Reefton next week, it was necessary to call the monthly meeting of the Labour Party earlier. This meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs A. Hardie. The Minister of Mines, Mr A. McLagan, accompanied by the Undersecretary for Mines, Mr C. H. Benney, is to arrive ,to-day at Reefton, and will this afternoon open the new miners’ hostel at a public gathering. The 'function will be .attended by other departmental officers, representatives of miners’ organisations, and members of the Inangahua County Council. The hostel, the first of its kind in the Dominion, has 18 boarders. When fully occupied it will provide accommodation for 52 single men, with a staff of seven. The weather has remained notably warnn for this time of the year, and the temperature to-day was high. The bank at the head of Broadway ic being removed by a gang of men. The curve in the road has been dangerous. The visibility, will be improved, the road widened, and the thoroughfare made safer
