REEFTON NOTES
(Our own Correspondent) REEFTON, April 15
The Hon. C. F. Skinner, Minister of Rehabilitation, will arrive in Reefton on Thursday next, April 22. and remain until April 25, when he will go to Westport to take part in the Anzac service.
The Hon. A. McLagan, Minister of Mines and Labour, will visit Reefton to-morrow for the purpose of the official opening of the miners’ hostel. The Minister will be entertained at a dinner by the County Council, and then at afternoon tea at the hostel after the official opening.
Mr F. Archer has left for Dunedin where he will receive special medical treatment.
Wandering stock during the night are becoming a danger to the public. Five cows crossing the road in the darkness gave a resident a nasty shock on returning. to her home from the pictures. A stroke match was played on the Waitahu links last week-end. and the best cards returned were: A. Lulham 93-30-63; R. Brown 83-16-67; J. P. Lee 88-21-67; N. Woods 76-7-69; G. Wilson 88-17-71; W. J. Humphries 89-18-71; E. Patterson 91-19-72; W. J. August 82-10-72.
The following handicap reductions have been made: A. Lulham 30 to 27; R. Brown 16 to 13; J. P. Lee- 21 to 17; N. Woods 7 to 6; G. Wilson 17 to 16; W. J. Humphries 18 to 17. A stroke match will be Dlayed tomorrow, commencing at 1.30 p.m.
