Borough Council Decisions

The following resolutions received from the various committees by the Westport Borough Council at its meeting on Wednesday evening were adopted as resolutions of the Council: Accounts and Revenue: That accounts as scheduled amounting to £7,530 13s Id be passed for payment. That the petition from residents on the western side of Queen Street for a footpath between Stafford and Roebuck Streets be held over until next meeting of the works committee, members of the committee to be supplied with a copy of the list of authorised works not yet commenced. Reserves: That leases on the usual conditions be granted to Messrs K. E. Ivory and J. Simpson of Municipal Reserve Section 90/1 sub-sectidns 7 and 14 respectively. That the Buller Rugby Union be granted the use of Victoria Square during the football season on the usual conditions with the reservation that four Saturdays be available for other sports if required. the union to be requested to conclude the season by the first Saturday in October, the, the chairman and the caretaker to decide when the ground is unfit for play. That the Council agree to contribute up to the amount of £7 10s for ornamental trees to be planted on the street frontage of the Technical High School. That the chairman and the gas manager be authorised to arrange for the purchase and fitting of a sink in the pavilion, children’s playground.
