Farmer’s False Income Returns Cost £300
WAIPUKURAU, April 15. Fines totalling £3OO were imposed on Gerald Ernest Wilson, a farmer, who pleaded guilty before Mr Sinclair, S.M., at the Waipawa Magistrate’s Court to four charges of wilfully furnishing false returns of income.
The Crown Prosecutor said the defendant had returned false returns over six taxation years, but only four from 1943 to 1946, were subject to prosecution. Over this period the aggregate income returned was short come tax, without taking into conby £5369, while the deficiency of insideration social security and national security tax, amounted to £3623.
