Grey County to Assist World's Starving Children

The Grey County Council, at a meeting held yesterday in aid of the Food for Children campaign, decided to hold meetings at Blackball, Ngahere, Nelson Creek, Totara Flat, Ahaura, South Beach, Karoro. Kaiata, and Rotomanu, for the purpose of electing working committees for their respective districts. The meetings are to be called by the councillors allotted to each district.

With regard to an organised appeal, it was t'esolved that circulars be sent to all mining companies, sawmills, and farmers in the county, pointing out the urgency of the appeal, and suggesting that employers be authorised to deduct one day’s pay from each of their employees. Women’s organisations in the county are also to be requested to assist in the appeal.
