NEW HOUSES ON NAPIER BLOCK
NAPIER, April 15.
On a 200-acre block in the State suburbs of Morewa, the Government will build 775 houses, in addition to the 450 State houses already in the suburb. Mr Armstrong, M.F.. stated this in a pre-sessional address in the R.S.A. Hall. The suburb will thus become a new town, he said, and the building of it will make an all-time record. , , Not only will State homes be built at Morewa. he continued, but sections will also.be sold to returned servicemen when the area is reticulated. “People will be pleased to hear we are going to do that,” said Mr Armstrong. Referring to the Enabling Bill for the greater Napier scheme wh’ch ho had piloted through the. House, Mr Armstrong said the Napier Borough Council had every opportunity to carry out the scheme. Thei” block would provide homes for 5000 people. “It’s about time there was some activity down there,” he said.
