Mrs T. Harrington left by yester day’s express for Christchurch.
Mr Garth Patterson left yesterday morning en route for Rangiora.
Mrs G. Eddington left yesterday on return to Timaru.
Mr R. J. Truman, Greymouth, left .yesterday for Murchison.
In the recent examination of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand, Mr C. J. Ennis, of Greymouth, was successful in passing the law section of the life branch.
Mr Justice Callan, who has been granted 12 months’ leave from the Supreme Court Bench, will leave Auckland for Britain on Saturday by the Rangitata. His sabbatical leave is considerably overdue.
The High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, Sir Patrick Duff, leaves Wellington to-day to fulfill engagements in Auckland. He returns to-morrow—Press Assn.
“Miss New Zealand” (Miss Mary Wootton) arrived at London airport for a three and a half months’ tour of Britain. She said; “It seems like a dream. I know I will like the English people. I hope they *will like me, too. ’
Yesterday morning. Their Excellencies the GoVernor-General and Lady Freyberg left Government House, Wellington. Their Excellencies, after staying at Rotorua, will arrive at Government House, Auckland, on April 23. They will remain in residence at Auckland for approximately two months.—Press Assn-

Probert is th P first New Zealander to become a senior pilot with the British, Canadian and Pacific Airways. He is 26 years of age and was born in Auckland, his first flights being made with the R.N.Z.A.F., which he joined in July 1940. After six years’ service- flying bombers and transport aircraft in th? Pacific, he received his discharge with the rank of Flight-Lieutenant and joined National Airways Corporation. In the latter capacity he has been flying Douglas airliners on the South-West Pacific Services and has logged 3,500 flying hours. Captain Probert’s hobbies are cricket and yachting and his brother holds a traffic appointment with National Airways Corporation.
