LEAGUE FOOTBALL Runanga’s Easy Win Over Hokitika
Moving J. Forrest from the wing to first five-eighth, gave Runanga greater opportunities of exploiting their back play in the second spell against Hokitika at Hokitika on Sunday and after leading 10-ml at halftime. the visitors ran winners by 35 points to 8. Hokitika’s tactics prevented the Runanga backs from getting going in the first spell, but they were well served by J. Forrest after a most polished display. However, their allround display was not equal to that which gave them a win over Blackball last week-end. „ , , M. Thomas, the former Rugby player, gave a much improved performance and combined well with the backs. J. Soster, who scored 14 points off the boot was again sound and both J. and R. .Forrest played ideal football. J. Forrest scored two brilliant tries in the second spell. Of the forwards,, J. Newton and A. McTaggart were again to the fore. R. Neilson (who played m the forwards and backs at times) was again Hokitika’s outstanding forward. A. Gillman gave an improved display.
