U.S. BONUS IF URANIUM IS FOUND

WASHINGTON, April 10. The United States Atomic Energy Commission to-night offered a 10,000dollar bonus for the discovery and production of high grade uranium ores from any deposit anywhere in the United States.

The offer was part of a threepoint programme announced by the commission to “stimulate the discovery and production of domestic uranium by private competitive enterprise I ’. Following is the programme:— (1) Government guaranteed 10-year minimum prices for domestic, refined uranium, high grade uranium ores and mechanical concentrates. (2) A 10,000-dollar discovery bonus. (3) Government guaranteed threeyear minimum prices for low grade carmotite and . roscoelite type uranium, vanadium ores of the Colorado plateau area and Government operation of two vanadium uranium plants in that area. The Government set the price at 350 cents per pound of recoverable uranium oxide from high grade ores and concentrates, less the cost per pound to refine, and 350 cents a pound for uranium oxide from refined uranium products.
