Vessel Battered off Poverty Bay

GISBORNE, April 12.

Battered by heavy beam seas for 36 hours, a converted Fairmile, now the Iris Moana, put into Gisborne in the early hours of this morning to await an abatement of the weather before continuing her voyage front Wellington to Auckland. The craft has been converted for pleasure cruises on the Marlborough Sounds and is now on its way to Auckland in order to complete her equipment.

During the storm the galley stove broke from its moorings; and the greasing apparatus for the mainbearings down.
