TASMAN AIR SERVICE TO BE CONTINUED
AUCKLAND, April 9. The Australian Civil Aviation Department, with the co-operation of all companies operating in Australia is .investigating the possibilities of continuing the interim Skymaster trans-Tasman service, sai'd Captain E. C’. Johnson, assistant Director of Civil Aviation in Australia, on his arrival by air from Sydney to discuss with the New Zealand authorities, details of the British Commonwealth Pacific Airways service trom Vancouver to Auckland and Sydney via San Francisco, Honolulu and Fiji which begins on April 21. The Tasman flying boat New Zealand, piloted by Captain A. V. Jury, left Auckland at 9.45 a.m. for Sydney to undergo further flying tests m Australia. As the certificate of airworthiness has not yet been returned to the company by the civil aviation branch of New Zealand Air Department, an interim certificate was granted to enable the crossing to be made.
